Where it began - a trace of their first son's hand at age 3. Snail mailed to Julie.

Creating the hand print out of "river rock". A technique that leverages the reactions between certain Bullseye Glass colors.

Julie decided on a set of 4, 2 plates edged in red and 2 edged in black. Because - right & left hands! Here, building the red plates.

Building the black edged plates.

The second fusing of the plate. The design took 4 firings total.

Devit painting the bottom of the piece after the second firing. The third firing was a 'flip firing' technique. The devit painting is applying a thin layer of a solution of glass powder and adhesive and water. This shines up the otherwise matte looking bottom of the piece.
